The Jambo Brothers

This week in 3W we have been investigating the narrative genre. We used a picture of two elephants as a stimulus to write our story. Please read our narrative and tell us what you think.

Once upon a time there were two brothers named Jimmy and Jack Jambo. Jack was the eldest elephant and Jimmy was the youngest. They were the best of friends. The brothers lived together in South Africa in a grassy savanna. It was steaming hot on the savanna and all of the animals liked to drink at the local waterhole.

It hadn't rained on the savanna for two months and the waterhole was slowly drying up. Everyday Jack and Jimmy would visit the waterhole there was less and less water. Some of the other animals were also being greedy about how much water they were drinking.

Jack and Jimmy were very thirsty. They were so thirsty, they were dehydrated. Eventually the water hole dried up and Jack and Jimmy were feeling very sick. Little did they know that the predators were forming a hunting circle waiting for the right time to attack.

One day Jack and Jimmy were feeling so weak that they could not stand up. Suddenly the predators attacked. Luckily Jimmy escaped but his big brother Jack did not survive the attack. Jimmy was heartbroken.

Not long after this tragedy is started to rain. The rain filled the waterhole and animals gathered from near and far. This is where Jimmy Jambo met the most beautiful lady elephant Julie. They fell in love and got married. One month later they had a baby boy and named him Jack to remember his brother's bravery.

The Walk into the Past at Caboolture Historical Village

Last Monday the 16th of March, 3W and 3L went on an excursion to Caboolture Historical Village. We travelled by coach and arrived excited to learn all about Australia's past.

The day was jam-packed with interesting demonstrations and lots to see and do. Some highlights of the day included: a washing and wool spinning demonstration, the train ride and visit to the blacksmith.

We had a great day and were all very tired by the end!

What was your favourite part? What did you learn about Australia's past that you didn't know before?
